The World We Want To Create
3:00 pm - 4:00 am
Through The World We Want to Create, students from CityLab and Idea High Schools will
visualize and bring speculative futures to life, imagining the future of the city they want to live in.
A foundational part of the program is helping students develop and apply critical thinking skills to
analyze current societal, technological, and environmental challenges. In doing so, they foster a
sense of agency and ownership over the potential outcomes of our shared future.
Through design workshops the students will engage with traditional analog skills such as
research, brainstorming, sketching, and reflection. They will then learn how AI can serve as a
supportive creative design tool to further visualize their concepts.
Student-designed banners will hang in Halperin Park throughout November 2026, and the work
will be animated for projection at Aurora on November 21, 2026.
The World We Want to Create was conceived by designer and educator Mark Randall and
produced by Make Art with Purpose.
