Making an Impact
@ Halperin
Change for good.
Creating $1B in economic impact.
The neighborhoods adjacent to Halperin Park are historically under-resourced — many lacking basic resources like grocery stores, health clinics, and employment centers. The park aims to reverse this trend by driving economic development, expanding educational opportunities, and providing greater access to public park space
Economic estimates based on preliminary analysis conducted by UNT Dallas
- $1 billion in economic impact during its first five
- $14 million in property tax
- $325 million in retail/restaurant sales

Education
Six DISD schools are within a one-mile radius of Halperin Park. Out-of-school programming, a partnership with the Dallas Zoo, and curriculum that incorporates the park’s amenities will expand learning opportunities and help improve local education outcomes.

Environment
Dallas is heating up faster than every U.S. city except Phoenix, according to a 2017 Texas Trees Foundation Urban Heat Management Study. Halperin Park’s deck design adds more than five acres of new green space over a concrete corridor, helping cool the city, increase tree coverage, and provide environmental benefits for generations to come.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS
Our Heat Island.
Mitigating Dallas’ Heat Island Effect
Dallas is warming faster than nearly every other large U.S. city. Experts say more green space and tree planting are needed to help reverse this trend. From its design onward, Halperin Park has incorporated green infrastructure and innovative environmental solutions to do its part for the community and the planet.

Energy-Efficient
Construction
Halperin Park features a building made from mass timber—an engineered wood product that is natural, renewable, and sustainable. Mass timber is an energy-efficient alternative to concrete and steel, offering a lower carbon footprint while meeting the same structural and safety standards.
Sustainably harvested: Only selected trees are cut during harvest, allowing the remaining forest to grow taller and healthier. For every tree harvested, two saplings are planted to ensure future forest growth.
Lower construction emissions: Mass timber columns, beams, and panels weigh just one-fifth the weight of concrete and steel, reducing shipping costs and labor. Much of the material is fabricated off-site with precision machinery, which lowers waste and speeds installation.
Carbon sequestration: Trees absorb carbon dioxide as they grow, and mass timber stores that carbon throughout the building’s lifespan, helping combat climate change.
Healthier environment: Incorporating wood and other natural materials supports biophilic design, which research shows can reduce stress and improve mental well-being.
